KR+H Advantage

WE KNOW DETAILS

DISCOVERY Every KR+H project starts with a conversation. Tell us your ideas and expectations. Show us photos of work you love. Meanwhile, we'll have questions for you—from where the light enters your room, to how many sets of dishes you'll need to store.

DESIGN Strategy and creativity come together as we develop a beautiful and functional plan for your project. Or, if you are working with an architect or designer—or are an architect or designer—and you already have plans, we’ll review them and prepare to build.

PRODUCTION This is when we translate great designs into great cabinetry. Your project moves into our shop, where a team of craftspeople with many decades of experience and a remarkable range of talents set to work.

FINISHING One clear difference between a decent product and a truly beautiful one is in the finish. With meticulous attention to detail, our finishing team ensures that every piece we make falls into the “truly beautiful” category.

INSTALLATION Installation can require small final adjustments. It can also require putting perfect new pieces into centuries-old rooms where nothing has aligned for a century. Our installers make it fit. Perfectly.

YOUR EXPECTATIONS

A PERFECT FIT Making something fit is different than making something that fits. We do the latter, with respect to both design and execution. We design things that fit with our customer’s aesthetic or with the established design idiom of their home. Our installers are last step, insuring that our work fits seamlessly with the room’s surfaces and other millwork.

UNIQUELY YOUR OWN See something online that you love? Great. We can make that style the starting point for something you will love even more. We can employ motifs from the architecture of your house or objects you treasure. We can create a design that goes beyond “the kind of look” you like.

ANTICIPATE THE UNFORSEEN At some point in your project, a great new idea or an unwanted complication will arise. We will be ready to help. We are here to respond to every surprise bump and wonderful “what-if”—either with a solid workaround or an even better “what-if”? That’s custom.

REMARKABLE We’ve made a niche in an island for a dog’s water bowl and a perch on a cornice for a favorite gargoyle. Is there some touch we can add that will bring you a bit of joy every time you see it?  To us “custom” means welcoming unusual requests requiring unique and distinct solutions.

WE LOVE DESIGN

A SIGNATURE STRENGTH The KR+H team includes trained architects, an unusual asset for a partnership of cabinetmakers—and a valuable one. Over three decades, our staff has developed designs for hundreds of kitchens and other interior spaces, each one unique, each offering useful lessons. If the 10,000-hour rule is valid, we have earned our claim to mastery many times over.

DIALOG AND DISCOVERY At KR+H, design staff members work with craftspeople and installers to see each project through to completion. In other settings, the designer’s role ends with sign-off on plans. Here, we have the privilege, every day, to see our ideas take shape in our shop. Each time, we gain insight into what works well and what could work better. We put that experience to work for you.

COLLABORATIONS OF MANY KINDS Often KR+H lends expertise to homeowners or builders who need a design partner for their project. And we also team up on projects where an architect or interior designer is already engaged. They bring an overall vision or plan. We extend that vision into the details of a functional kitchen or any space requiring detailed millwork.

THE VALUE TO YOUR PROJECT Put simply, beautiful workmanship doesn’t mean much without the right design. A great kitchen, library, or family room is only really great if it works as part of your house and your life. This is what design is all about.
